Recommended Blueprint Reading: Where I found the clues

Some folks have inquired about further reading, particularly around the science as to why The Blueprint works so well. To that end, the following is an excellent read: "Maximum Muscle, Minimum Fat: The Science of Physical Perfection" by Ori Hofmekler. Ori is also the author of the Warrior ...

Alkalizing

Researchers are finding more and more evidence that increasing alkalinity can enhance muscle mass. J Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2008 Ceglia L, Harris SS, Abrams SA, Rasmussen HM, Dallal GE, Dawson-Hughes B. Potassium bicarbonate attenuates the urinary nitrogen excretion that accompanies an increase in d...

Feast Phase - Why it works

I get a lot of comments from guys in this phase, things along the lines of "you can really screw up with your training and still put significant muscle on" and "there seems to be a large margin for error in this phase...I didn't have time to train that much and I still gained a lot of...

GAS Theory in The Blueprint (focus on Famine Phase)

The Blueprint (and the Soviets) owe a deep debt of gratitute to the founder of GAS theory, Dr. Hans Seyle. In 1926, he formulated the General Adaptation to Stress theory consisting of 3 phases: 1.) Alarm 2.) Resistance/Adaptation and 3.) Exhaustion. It was from this framework that the coupling of tr...

This is a fantastic point and a good reminder of a classic Arthur Jones article from Ironman. Peary Reder himself/squat is referenced in paragraph #5. Jones then makes his case for the pullover being the upper body equivalent: IronMan, Volume 29 Number 5, 1970 By Arthur Jones In general it has long ...

4-hydroxy isoleucine in Kre-Anabolyn and the rebound

Some nice evidence piling up as to why Kre-Anabolyn works so well in the famine/feast setup I provide in The Blueprint. A study done at the University of Montana investigated the impact of 4-hydroxyisoleucine on trained cyclists. The cyclists depleted their glycogen stores (as found in the famine ph...

Ecdy - More evidence/how to amplify it with your training

The evidence for ecdysterone working just keeps piling up. In case the Russian research of the 1960's, 70's and 80's didn't convince you, there are a few new ones that make things a little more difficult to ignore. One of these studies appears in the journal "Phytomedicine". Researchers fr...

Appreciate the note. This area really holds great promise on multiple levels. As I detail in The Blueprint, it really does have a number of health benefits. Beyond that, alkalizing one's system is an exciting new frontier in getting the most out of ecdysterone. If you're using the Multistix like I r...

And to expand on that, this is the ONLY time I've found it to be helpful to "double up" on the dosing. Just one Kre-Anabolyn packs a hefty dose of Rhaponticum Carthamoides Extract and enough to increase protein retention at every meal as validated by Multistix.

Yes, that's the gist of it. A gallon of milk a day, 20 rep breathing squats followed immediately by breathing pullovers. An early forerunner of the stretch position movements advocated in The Blueprint!
