A word on soda/carbonated beverages...

Post by RobRegish »

Do NOT consume soda/carbonated beverages with any protein based meal. If you must have soda, try to consume it away from your protein feedings.

The oxygen you breathe in is O2, or di-atomic. It gets into your bloodstream and picks up a carbon, excreted as a waste product or CO2.

Carbonation is straight CO2. This CO2 impairs protein digestion in the gut/small intestine. Prove it to yourself:

- Eat a steak dinner and have a large soda with it

- The next night, have the same steak with a glass of orange or pineapple juice

You'll feel the truth the next morning.

One of my biggest Achilles Heels with trying to eat right is quitting soda. Oh there are some tasty juices and water that works in the interim, but after a couple days, I see a can of Mountain Dew and wilt.

You might be OK then. MD is like Mellow Yellow, isn't it?

Dusty Rhodes used to drink that. Look what it did for him!

Here's a tip I often give out to help people kick the cola habit-

Take your favorite flavor of 100% juice, and fill a glass about 2/3 of the way full. Then, simply top off the glass with Gerolsteiner or similar naturally sparkling mineral water.

If you like a bit of "bite", start with a little ground ginger in the glass.

The possibilities are endless, and it's worlds healthier than commercial soda pop.

Dusty is one of the few people in the world that look better now than when he was 20 years younger. It could be because at least at his age now, there's an excuse.
