MASS PRO vs. WalMart Body Fortress Whey - Exposed

Post by RobRegish »

Sometimes, it's what they DON'T mention on the label that matters the most.

I was in WalMart the other day and noticed their "Super Advanced Whey Protein", 2lbs for just $14.99. Had cross flow micro/ultra filtered whey isolate, concentrate, di and tri peptides, immunoglobulins etc. PLUS added creatine, leucine, taurine etc.. On label alone, this is a superior product to MassPro at a fraction of the price, right?

Not so fast. I suspected that it was dried using heat, which greatly de-natures the protein and cross links it rendering it virtually useless. The poor digestion of this product alone should be the tip off, but to be absolutely certain I emailed the company for a written record.

Well well, it turns out it's heated up to 170 degrees during processing! Compare that to NO heat in the creation of MassPro, which yields an astounding 100% biologically active protein/amino acid profile.

You wouldn't know that though, reading their label. They just don't mention it, hoping you won't notice.

Buyer beware!

Super Advanced Whey Protein

Hi -

Is your whey dried with heat or low heat? Or is it cold processed? Not sure if it matters all that much, just curious.

Please let me know.

Thanks!

I'm not even going to comment outside of stating that even with short-cut heat processing there is no way to legitimately produce real whey with those additions for that price - much less sell it for that price.

Walking by an end cap full of this crap at Wally World a few months ago my 15 year old son pointed and laughed, saying "maltodextrin's on sale dad... better stock up!"

I was given the opportunity to use the WalMart whey protein since a co-worker tried it and did not like the taste at all and gave me the rest of his. I fought through the taste, which was not enjoyable, and used the 2lb jug minus about one serving. I def noticed this to be an inferior protein right away because it caused alot of discomfort i.e. bloat, and gave me alot of gas (which my co-worker had to suffer with)

This experience reaffirms for me that not all protein powders are equivalent.

I have not yet tried the MASS pro product.

I'm sorry, I buy certain things at Wal-Mart but would never go there for protein. Oops did once on vacation, didn't want to haul my Mass Pro on an airplane so purchased a jug while out of state. Not a good idea.... Mass ships!

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I've been caught between orders here and there too. I've learned through experience that muscle doesn't disappear in a few days without whey...

Plus I don't have to choke that other stuff down. I rather like MASS PRO MVP in pineapple juice. I mix 4 scoops in 3 cups of PJ, a few ice cubes and that's my "base" protein for the day.

The other days I rotate in chocolate, vanilla or cookie's and cream in milk.

As far as making a flavor I enjoy a Strawberry Whey mixed with OJ. Its kinda like a creamsicle and goes well for breakfast.

I suspect that a different brand of Whey or type/brand of orange juice will impact the final taste so some experimentation may be required.

NOTE: The Walmart brand was not used in the making of my creamsicle.

Sounds good, Scooter.

There is one well known former IFBB guy who uses our Berries & Cream with Pineapple juice, yet is paid to endorse something else (which he never actually touches).

Me, I've always loved MASS PRO Vanilla mixed in grape juice.

Great flavor combo!

Bunch of recipes and ideas here guys- https://bodybuildingsupplements.com/protein-recipes.html

Also, regarding the the fake and outright dangerous whey's, be certain to check this out- https://bodybuildingsupplements.com/cheap-protein-supplement.html
