Suggested Workout Couplings for Maximum Traction

Post by RobRegish »

Progress is no accident, and some thought must be put into how to couple strength building workouts to keep what I call "traction" going. The only thing worse than not getting bigger/stronger is getting there and then....losing it. You know this guy, the one who "used to bench 300lbs back in the day". Well, he may or may not have. The point is, don't be that guy.

Following then are suggested workout couplings to use in back to back Feast Phases. This rotation has been carefully chosen to avoid too much work in the 90th percentile intensity range, thus avoiding adrenal/CNS burnout. While the primary goal is strength, it also delivers the necessary volume to facilitate a meaningful increase in new muscle growth:

German Peaking Program, Phase I Result: +5% on your 1RM
German Peaking Program, Phase II Result: +10% on your 1RM
Russian Peaking Program Result: +5% on your 1RM
The 10% Solution Result: +10% on your 1RM

When you add it all up, you should recognize a 30% increase to your 1RM! Apply that to something like the barbell squat and you've just turned a 400lb 1RM into squatting 520+lbs! It's not uncommon, and many Blueprint users will do even better.

Let's play worst case scenario though. Say you only gain half of that or an added 15%. That's the equivalent of going from a 400lb to a 460lb squat. And remember, that's the worst case scenario.

Significant indeed.
